A visit to remember...well desplayed items from yester year; a trip down memory lane and far beyond!

A fantastic collection of objects from the local area with really friendly and helpful staff.

The Landsborough Museum is the business entity of the Landsborough District Historical Society, which was formed in 1973."Our mission is to collect, research, conserve, interpret and exhibit the artifacts, memorabilia, documents, photographs and stories ofindigenous and non-indigenous peoples whose heritage can be linked to that region, known in the year 2000, as Caloundra City."The Society has a management committee comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer who ensure the running of the Museum.The Museum is housed in what was the original Landsborough Shire Council Chambers, which were designed in 1924 by renowned architect Walter Carey Voller and built from local timbers supplied by A E Round.In 1988 using funding from the Bi-centenary, the old building was revamped and a new building of mud brick construction was added. The complex was reopened on Australia Day in 1988 by J L Beausang, the last chairman of Landsborough Shire and first mayor of Caloundra City.At a Heritage Council meeting on the 25 June 1999, it was resolved to enter the "former Landsborough Shire Council Chambers" into the Queensand Heritage Register.The Museum is open Wednesday to Friday and Sundays from 9.00am to 3.00pmA quick visit to the Museum can take up to one hour but with so much to see several hours can be spentbrowsing the collection of farm machinery, domestic life in the last century, the local historic tobacco and farming communities, and many other items of interest from the one-legged shovel to the Caloundralighthouse lightThe Landsborough Museum was established in 1976 It is one of the largest community museums in south east Queensland and is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the local regionA dedicated group of volunteers staff the Museum and work to research and provide visitor accessto the communitys collections and stories

Great exhibit and interesting presentation on making butter from Cream

No eftpos. I guess it was the lack of a welcome. Very hot in summer. Never went past reception though.kids under 10 free that's what the star is for.
